Wedding Dress Surgery

During the busy summer season I work on many wedding dress alterations.

A shoulder alteration can mean all the beads and lace over the area to be adjusted must be carefully removed and replaced.

Inside a hem there is often a band of crinoline stiffening to help keep it's shape so this needs to be unpicked and replaced at the new level.

We get some poorly dresses that need a tender touch. Here the lace had snagged and pulled a long vertical rip that had to be carefully repaired.
Replacing the lace on a shortened hem using a darning foot and free machine sewing with invisible thread.

The dress net monster must be tamed!
